4th of July was Eating with Andrea - Literally!

July 4, 2010

Andrea of EatingWithAndrea.com invited us over for dinner for the 4th of July. She made hamburgers (stuffed with cheddar cheese and bacon), hot dogs, and shish kebab which was served with a roasted corn dish. For dessert she had red velvet cupcakes with buttercream  frosting and a blueberry on top, but since we can't have that due to the artificial color, she whipped up a batch of sorbet made from meyer lemon juice.

Shish Kebab, corn, and dressing

My boys of course had the hamburgers, but I went with the healthy choice that Andrea too enjoyed. The shish kebab was marinated in beer and skewered with onion, potato, and poblano peppers it is served with a sauce that I put on the side for dipping. It had vinegar, sour cream, parsley and I can't recall what else but it was tasty. The roasted corn was delicious too.

I should have photographed the lemon sorbet. It was so sweet and yummy. I hope to have more some day!
