A French Night at Melting Pot

January 6, 2011

On the 12th day of Christmas I stuffed myself w/ cheese... 4 fondue forks, 3 course meal... & a creme brulee mar-ti-ni! I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could fill in the days and come up with a full Melting Pot version of the holiday tune. I'm far too sober to attempt that though.

Tonight Andrea and I finally got to have our own little Girl's Night Out at Melting Pot. (MP has a GNO on Mondays, but this is Thursday so it wasn't an official GNO.) We've both been wanting to try the special dessert that comes with Melting Pot's Big Night Out, but we weren't sure we wanted a full Big Night Out dinner so we decided to go a la carte. Turns out we had a French theme in the end anyhow even though we didn't do the BNO.

Creme Brulee Martini

I couldn't resist trying the Creme Brulee martini. I'm so glad I did; it was delicious! Andrea had the Menaga Trois wine, which kept with the French theme.

Fondue A La France

Our cheese was Fondue à la France: A rich, smooth combination of baby Brie, Fontina, Gruyère and Raclette cheeses accented with Nueske’s bacon, onions, white-truffle cream and fresh chives

French Quarter

For dinner we chose The French Quarter: Filet mignon, breast of chicken and shrimp, all seasoned with cajun spices, served with Andouille sausage. (We enjoyed this with the Mojo cooking style.)

White Chocolate Creme Brulee

For dessert it was White Chocolate Crème Brûlée: A fondue version of the classic French dessert including white chocolate and caramelized sugar

Yes, that's fire!

Dessert Platter served with White Chocolate Creme Brulee fondue

We'd already started eating the desserts when I realized we hadn't taken a picture yet! Not shown, graham cracker encrusted marshmallows. We were both anxious to try the fondue. It was so good, perfect with green apples (not shown).

Rice Krispy Treat covered in White Chocolate Creme Brulee

My Best Friend loves Rice Krispy Treats covered in Melting Pot. I thought of her and had to text her this photo to let her know. I miss her, and wish she was here to have fondue with me any time.
