Rain Forrest Cafe - San Antonio

July 24, 2010

Gaetano learned all about the Alamo in 4th grade and has mentioned a few times that he wanted to go there. So we figured that we'd make the last couple of days of our honeymoon family time and surprise him with a day trip to San Antonio.

It took us a long time to decide where to eat when we finally decided to go to Rain Forrest Cafe since we haven't been to one since we left California. We thought Gaetano might enjoy it there more than some of our other options along the San Antonio river walk. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated.

Rain Forrest Cafe - Buffalo Wings

Gaetano had Buffalo Wings, which he hasn't eaten in a few years. I was surprised by his choice. Ultimately, he couldn't finish them so I had a few bites of his since my dinner didn't have a whole lot to it.

Rain Forrest Cafe - Coconut Shrimp

Coconut shrimp was about the only item on the Rain Forrest Cafe menu that sounded appetizing to me. Not that they don't have good food, it just wasn't what I was really in the mood to eat. The sauce - well it isn't worth writing about. Let's just leave it at that.

Rain Forrest Cafe - Rasta Pasta

Dan had something called Rasta Pasta which he seemed to enjoy. I think he misses Jamaica already. So do I. The food was so good that I'm sure it will take awhile to adjust to American cooking again.

Next time we visit San Antonio we'll go elsewhere. In all, it wasn't worth the wait and the novelty has worn off for all of us. Even Gaetano is too old for Rain Forrest Cafe, awwwww!
